Mission Opportunities: Our "Top Ten"

Here at BEACH, we know that when we leave our buildings, we are truly entering the mission field! We're out there, responding to human need with loving compassion, across town and around the world. We have chosen to focus our efforts on "ten" primary missions in our community and beyond. This way we can have the greatest impact on human lives and community transformation.

Our "Top Ten" Mission Commitments:

  • B.E.A.M. (Beaches Emergency Assistance Ministry)
  • Mission House
    Hart Felt Ministry
    Helping Hands
    Beaches Habitat for Humanity
    Meals on Wheels
    Florida United Methodist Children's Home
  • Camp AMP
    Jamaica Missions
  • Costa Rica Missions

Local:

B.E.A.M. (Beaches Emergency Assistance Ministry): BEAM is an non-denominational agency created to serve the truly needy residents in the Beaches' communities when situations deserve emergency assistance. BEAM can help those situations with food, clothing, vouchers and with financial crisis.

Mission House: Mission House is a day facility serving the homeless in the Beaches communities providing meals, showers, medical care, clothing vouchers, case management and referrals to agencies for jobs, mental health, medical services, etc. Members of Beach United Methodist Church serve meals at Mission House on the 4th Sunday and the 4th Tuesday of every month.

  • Hart Felt Ministries: Hart felt provides non-medical support services and companionship tailored to the needs of frail elderly and disabled adults who require practical assistance to live independently. This ministry serves clients throughout Jacksonville with friendly visits, errands and grocery shopping, transportation to medical appointments, respite care, help with chores and minor home repairs.
  • Helping Hands Ministry: provides emergency assistance for needy families with children in the Beaches area with food, clothing and transitional housing.

  • Beaches Habitat For Humanity: Beaches Habitat is committed to eliminating substandard and overcrowded housing in the Jacksonville Beaches area.  Beaches Habitat builds new homes for families and provides education assistance to homeowners and their children; and, as part of Habitat for Humanity International, is a grassroots Christian nonprofit organization dedicated to the elimination of poverty and substandard housing worldwide.
    •
    • Meals On Wheels: This community wide program provides the noon meal for people who experience difficulty in preparing healthy meals. Various churches in the beaches area provide volunteers to deliver the prepared meals each week.

    Regional:

    • Florida United Methodist Children's Home:
Provides children from dysfunctional families with a Christian family experience of healing, caring, and therapeutic community, through highly specialized services designed to strengthen individual and family life. FUMCH

      • Camp AMP:
Supported by every United Methodist church in Northeast Florida in order to provide every child - who financially cannot afford the opportunity to spend a week at camp - the opportunity to attend summer youth camp.

      • International:
        Jamaica Missions:
An on-going mission by Beach to transform the communities of St. Anne's Bay, Claremont and York Castle, through intergenerational mission teams bringing love and the Good News to Jamaica. Projects include work & construction teams, medical teams, vacation Bible school teams, church training & leadership teams, and prayer & outreach teams. At least two, 10 day missions each year.
      • Costa Rica Missions: An on-going mission by Beach to transform the communities surrounding San Ramon, Costa Rica. At least two annual trips of 8 days each immersed in the Costa Rican culture sharing God's love. The teams serve through a floor ministry, vacation Bible school, and sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ with the children and adults in this area of the world. Strong relationships have been forged between the people of Beach & the residents of San Ramon, along with our partners; Pura Vida Missions and Faithful Servant Missions.
