Carmen Johns
After serving churches in Florida, Georgia and Alabama, Carmen became the Discipleship Pastor at BEACH in 1988. She is committed to growing people in their relationship with Christ and helping them to walk it out daily. She plays many roles at BEACH that continue to transform lives and move people to the next step in their faith journey. You may find her preaching on Sunday mornings, teaching Bible studies, counseling, or you might even catch her playing the organ on occasion.
In 2001 Carmen became blind during a major surgery and since then has been accompanied by her loyal guide dog. With him always at her side, Carmen seeks to meet the needs of those experiencing and recovering from life crises. She’s passionate about all forms of life recovery ministries and leads ministries here at Beach that seek to meet those needs.
After receiving her undergraduate degree from Asbury University, Carmen went on to earn her Master's in Christian Education and Church Music from the Scarritt Center, along with her Master's of Divinity.
She is the proud mother and grandmother to three grown children and five grandchildren. Her skills in the kitchen have earned her quite a reputation as well; her delicious creations are a blessing in themselves.
